August 18th 2012
Brits On the Lake

Bob DeShane and those helping him have outdone themselves this year. Along with Brits On the Lake Sunday's show there was a Nigel Shiftright Wing Commander's Rally and the No-Uboats dinner Cruise. As an added bonus it was dry for at least part of Sunday's show!

Queen Street is packed!

The pictures were still being fully formed in Tony Fox's camera when he sent them to me. Here they are!

All of Queen Street was full of British cars
And it looks like it was dry, for a while anyway.

Meanwhile, back at Brits On the Lake.

Tony Fox

Security is clearing a path. For something....

Tony Fox

They're working it, so it must be someone important

The Uxbridge Legion Pipes & Drums is playing in someone

Tony Fox

That's Andy Procktor's Rolls, bringing in someone.

Tony Fox

I can't quite make out who is the passenger.

Lynda Hill

That looks Like Andy Procktor driving. If that is not a smirk it sure looks like it, with the chin meeting a stiff upper lip. :o)
The passenger looks more dignified.

Tony Fox

The passenger is being helped out.

Tony Fox

OMG it is Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth!!
This is why she was not at the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics!

We wish the Queen and her family the best Diamond Jubilee ever!

Bob DeShane with his friend Bill Brack and his Championship winning Lotus 59/69
Bill Brack won for best Race Car, this Lotus 59/69

This Lotus was new in 1971 as a F3 car in England. Bill saw it at the International Race Car Show in London, where it was mounted on a wall.

Later, in 1973 Bill saw it advertised in Autosport and purchased it. He had his mechanic, Doug Crosty put a TwinCam in it for the 1973 FB Championship year and won. In 1974, the championship changed to Formula A (Atlantic) Bill and Doug reacted by replacing the TwinCam with a BDA and won the Championship again!

Bill is certain that his car is the most winning Lotus Championship car ever produced.

Bill is truly a very gracious and kind man and Bob was thrilled that he would come out to Brits on the Lake. He was overwhelmed by the recognition and the memories that folks had of him both as a car dealer and a racing champion.
