Rally of the Rideau Lakes
By the Record News, Smiths Falls
September - November 1974

The Rally of the Rideau Lakes grew out of the National Championship 1000 Islands and Silver Lakes Rallies held in Eastern Ontario in to an FIA World Championship Rally for 1974.

Then that was it. The organizers could not come with financing for the next year. According to the FIA the organization and execution of the rally was second to no other FIA WRC event.

The town of Smiths Falls, Ontario seemed to be the epicenter for the October 17th to 19th rally The local weekly paper, the Record News, featured stories on the rally and some competitors. It even included the Rally Program as a supplement. It even followed one driver on to Michigan's Upper Penninsula Power-On-Regardless (POR) Rally in in early November.

Below are the articles and features from this newspaper. Every one of these is readible, though you may have to click on a picture to get a readible enlargement. These are full, uncompressed images, the full page images may take time to load, to those of you with dial up (Rob) sorry.

Enjoy!
