2015 Woodstock's Victoria Day Parade
The City of Woodstock, Ontario, has always celebrated Victoria Day in style. Four days of festivities, culminating in the annual parade, complete with "Her Majesty" herself. (Isn't it strange that nobody ever dresses up as 'young' 18-year-old Queen Victoria, it's always the 'old' 80-year old edition!)
This year marked the 68th edition of the parade, and as usual, most of Woodstock's population lined the streets to enjoy the spectacle. Several marching bands, many local service groups, high school gymnastics teams, and even a roller derby team took their place in the line-up.
There are always a few local 'hot-rodders' and classic cars in the parade, and this year for the first time, the British Saloon Car Club of Canada took part. We were represented by Chair John Griffith in his 1958 Austin Westminster, Gary Bailey in his 1970 Mini, and Philip Allen in his 1978 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II.
Philip's car also took the opportunity to remind us all of the Embro British Car Show, coming up on Canada Day, July 1st.
The weather was perfect, and a great time was had by all. See you for the 69th Parade in 2016!
