Plans for the 2012 weekend are well underway and we are expecting a good turn out of BSCCoC and SCUSA members this year as the last several years have seen excellent participation.
The attendance of Stags at Bronte Park British Car Day has been getting better each year with a count of 37 for the 40th anniversary show in 2010 (see the Stag 40th event to get a flavor of what took place in 2010 and 2011). We already have a number of entries for 2012 so hope we can count on you too. We are anticipating 25 Stags this year, so try to make it 26. Our group of volunteers is already busy with a program. So, mark your calendars for September of this year.
We have reservations in the same hotel as last year, the Admiral Inn, Billings Court, Burlington. It is close to the South Service Drive at the intersection of the QEW and Walker’s Line, southwest corner of the intersection. This hotel was very popular with attendees for the last two years; they go out of their way to accommodate our club. The room rate is $82.95 plus tax per night including a hot fresh breakfast of eggs, bacon etc. There is no charge for parking and the cars are right outside the hotel rooms. Telephone #905-639-4780 Call to make your reservations at a special rate, rooms are reserved under my name, Tony Fox, or British Saloon Car Club.
The group dinner Friday night is at Jake's Grill & Oyster House, a short walk from the hotel so no concerns about drinking and driving. Saturday evening the dinner will be in the Admiral’s Inn banquet room, so just a short stroll from your room there. Last year, this turned out to be a welcome change in our agenda, the hotel did a wonderful job of catering the banquet plus we had the room to ourselves for the evening together with a cash bar.
We have a ‘registration now form’ for you to fill in this year for Stag activities, this will allow the caterers to accurately judge the meals, allow enough seats etc. It will also allow me to prepare for our group’s events. Print this and submit with your payment.
We will have driving activities for the Friday and Saturday with some picturesque and interesting tours. Details will be announced shortly of these activities.
Besides joining a large group of Stags you will have the opportunity to attend what is probably the largest British car show in North America with well over 1,000 British vehicles participating. Each year amazes me with the rare models of vehicles that appear, many of which I have not seen for years. You can optionally pre register for the car show and save $5 through the Toronto Triumph club rather than pay at the gate, go to www.torontotriumph.com, this will speed up your entry into the park. What with road improvements on Burloak Drive and the pre-entry option, access to the park is speeded up considerably.
Please drop me a line, Tony Fox at tonyfox@sympatico.ca or call 905-632-0479 and don’t forget to register early with me.
